ELECTRIC BLINDS
Two ways to go electric, one simple remote.
At First Choice Blinds we fit two types of electric roller blind: a battery or solar-powered remote control blind, and a mains-powered remote control blind. Both make day-to-day use effortless — at the touch of a button you can raise, lower, and even pre-programme stop points to hold the blind at set heights down the window.
The battery motor can be fitted anywhere, since there’s no need to hardwire it. Where running a charging lead isn’t practical, we also offer a solar panel charger that trickle-charges the battery, with a 2m cable on both charger options. Alternatively, the blind can run off mains electricity, wired directly in or plugged into an outlet, which suits wider windows and higher installations.
HOW THEY WORK
One motor, one remote, up to twelve blinds.
The motor sits tucked inside the blind’s barrel, so installation stays clean and simple with no extra parts on show. Each motorised blind is operated by a remote control (sold separately), and a single remote can control up to twelve blinds, either together or individually.
Once you’ve followed the programming steps, the remote pairs with the motor inside the blind, which then learns exactly where the top and bottom of the window are — so it never over-spools itself. Our electric blinds also let you set stop points down the window: press the button once and it stops a quarter of the way down, press again and it moves to the next point, halfway down, and so on. It’s a handy way to limit direct sunlight while still letting daylight in.
CHARGING & CARE
Charge once, forget it for months.
Battery blinds need topping up from time to time, much like a mobile phone, though thankfully nowhere near as often. On a full charge you can expect standard usage to run smoothly for up to six months before it needs charging again. Every battery-operated roller blind on our site gives you the choice of a standard charging wire or a solar panel charger, so you can pick whichever suits the window’s location best.
